Bernadette resides, paints, and contemplates life in northern Colorado lakeside where she drinks inspiration from the natural world around her. She explored a wide variety of creative media before developing her individual style in acrylic mixed media. Her paintings come from an internal need for balance, calm, and authenticity. She participates in juried local, national, and international, competitions, exhibits and fairs.

The work is led by the energy of color and how shapes relate to each other. Expressive line and texture evoke emotion. The artwork is abstract and includes a combination of muted and vivid colors, hard lines and ethereal space. Balance emerges from juxtaposing opposites in art as in life. I create art to translate a felt experience. I want to put something in front of the viewer that evokes feeling and touches on underlying human experiences.
